We have recently learned according to an Areu Bros. release and the Atlanta Busines Chronicles how they will be the first Latinos to own and run a major film and television studio in the United States. Will Areu will continue to work for Tyler Perry Studios as president of production. Meanwhile his brother Ozzie Areu will hold down the fort at the Greenbriar studios location.
Ozzie Areu and his beautiful wife have been with Tyler Perry since the grand opening of the Greenbriar studios over a decade ago (ok since 2007). The campus has five sound stages, four office buildings, executive offices, post production facilities, a theater, a commissary and a fitness center. It also has a backlot with a suburban neighborhood with 11 homes and a street that can be used during filming. Ozzie started as Tyler’s personal assistant and has definitely climbed his way up the corporate ladder working very hard maintaining loyalty thoughout the years. His story of progress is literally one of the best Cuban success stories in the history of film and television.
In 2007 Tyler Perry purchased the Greenbriar studios which was actually his first studio lot. In 2017 the property was put for sale (for $25 million), so that the company could move to a larger studio on the grounds of an old abandoned Army base (Fort McPherson) located just outside Atlanta. Reportedly the studio sold somewhere to the tune of $18.5 million (unconfirmed) and closed on Dec. 13, 2018. Congratulations are definitely in order for the Areu Bros. Stay tuned to the producer’s channel tv blog for an exclusive interview with Ozzie Areu for more details. (Developing story)
