Actor Michael Luwoye lands series regular role on NBC’s Bluff City Law

Actor  Michael Luwoye (The Gifted) lands series regular role on NBC’s Bluff City Law which airs Monday nights at 10pm. The Producer’s Channel got a chance to have lunch with the Michael Luwoye star  catch up with him on his latest role. We thought it would be hard imagining him out of character with Nola from Netflix’s ‘She’s Gotta Have it. However, once we saw him as attorney Anthony Little on ‘Bluff City Law’ with a totally different accent we fell more in love all over again with the new character.

This series was created by Dean Georgaris and Michael Aguilar, both of whom are also executive producers along with David Janolian. It is set in Memphis, Tennessee, and it follows that lives of the lawyers working for a law firm that specializes in controversial landmark civil rights cases. Elijah Strait is at the helm of Strait & Associates with his new character. His daughter, Sydney, also returns to work with her father after not talking to him for several years. Following her mother’s death, Sydney wants to try to rebuild their tumultuous relationship.

Michael Luwoye plays Anthony Little, a partner at Strait & Associates and a friend of Sydney’s from law school. He was born in Nigeria, of Nigerian descent and grew up in Huntsville, Alabama. Best known for playing the title role in ‘Hamilton’, the hit Broadway musical. But you may remember him from television as his credits include ‘The Gifted’, ‘She’s Gotta Have It’, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, and ‘The Magicians’. How does a young man from Hunstville, Alabama decide in 2013 to become an actor  who keeps getting booked at end up with a series role on an NBC show?
