Will Packer and Malcolm D. Lee offer inspiration for blacks in film at 4th annual Influencers Brunch
According to the Newsletter of Enchanted PR
(Washington, DC) — The 4th annual Influencers Brunch was an undeniable highlight of the Congressional Black Caucus weekend in Washington, DC. Curated by Terk Entertainment Group partners Tarek “Terk” Stevens and Ronald “Tricky” Montgomery, the program opened with breakout Pop/R&B artist Eli serenading the crowd, then transitioned to an intimate conversation with Hollywood heavyweights Will Packer and Malcolm D. Lee, moderated by Heart & Soul Channel’s personality Cayman Kelly on Sirrius XM radio.
Packer and Lee were raw and candid, sharing insider knowledge about the movie industry while promoting their new film Night School. “We appreciate your support, because every ticket counts when you are up against others,” Packer explained. Lee echoed Packers sentiment and encouraged others to follow their passion especially if it led them to pursue the film industry. Lee suggested hopefuls be prepared to start at the bottom and do the work. “I started at the bottom. I got coffee, bagels, etc. I even messed up sometimes and got yelled at, but it’s ok,” he said. “Sometimes we want the success but aren’t willing to start at the bottom, but in many cases that’s the only way in.”
What began as a casual breakfast meeting between Anthony Anderson, Tarek “Terk” Stevens and Chris Spencer during The BET Honors has now become an exclusive gathering where Capitol Hill, Hollywood and Wall Street converge to celebrate igniters of the cultural power shift, recognize the impact of dynamic partnerships and empower the next generation of social change agents. “It’s always a beautiful room,” says Ronald “Tricky” Montgomery, “you look around and see so many different examples of black excellence from entertainment, to politicians to corporate brand managers, it’s black people supporting, collaborating and celebrating each other.”
Tarek “Terk” Stevens believes the brunch symbolizes the importance of building and sustaining relationships. “Your influence extends beyond your own platform and includes your relationships. The Influencers Brunch represents fertile ground for collaborative innovation that inspires global action,” he says. The relationships in this room go back for decades and others are just beginning, but this event represents how invaluable those connections are even beyond business.”
In addition to hearing insightful commentary from Packer and Lee, guests dined on a gourmet style brunch, enjoyed the beautiful rooftop view overlooking the Capitol and Union Station and received exclusive gift bags filled with Shea Moisture products.
Celebrity and notable guests included; author/speaker Michael Eric Dyson, former Essence editor-in-chief Susan L. Taylor, actor Lamman Rucker, comedian/radio morning show host Joe Clair, pop culture expert Jawn Murray, model/actress/morning radio host Claudia Jordan, ‘Love In The City’ star and International Motivational speaker Bershan Shaw, Josh J1 Raiford Program Director of 93.9 WKYS Radio One, Maryland Delegate Jay Walker and Angie M. Gates who serves as the Director of the DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment.
The 4th annual Influencers Brunch was sponsored by Shea Moisture, Barclays, Night School (Universal Pictures), CVS Health, Howard Stirk Holdings, Blackmaled Productions, Will Packer Media, Sunshine Matter, LLC, Tito’s Vodka, Jack Daniel’s and 202Creates as part of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s month long initiatirve and the Office of Cable, Television, Film, Music and Entertainment.

When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong- Did Wanda Smith’s husband really pull a gun on Katt Williams at the Food Depot?
According to the V103 website the story was told in regards to the conversation between Wanda Smith and Kat Williams when he visited V-103 radio station tagging along with his good friend Red Grant who was scheduled to do the radio interview. Wanda expressed how she was excited about Kat Williams in the beginning. However, we at the Producers Channel don’t agree with Wanda Smith’s opinion that Kat Williams had an agenda. Kat Williams (according to the interview we viewed was being his typical Kat Williams self.
It’s funny how Wanda Smith kept saying she didn’t want to be disrespectful or be in a bad place but it was Wanda who started the jabs telling Kat Williams that he needed to get his hair done. That was very disrespectful of her as a radio host. Also she called him “Miss Katt” and who does that? If Wanda Smith being the comedian that she is has done her homework on Kat Williams she would know this was all normal comedic behavior for him. No one congratulated Kat Williams on his Emmy nomination instead it was thrown up in his face about his jail stint. It got personal on Wanda’s end first according to the video.
Wanda constantly trashes people (guests of the show) and just the day before Smith was shaming Dr Gregory Lunceford (husband of Quad Webb-Lunceford) from Married to Medicine. Maybe this interview will make Wanda Smith take a good look at herself. How did Smith not see how the interview went left when she turned the wheel left first. Wow! She didn’t want to go back and forth she says but she went back and forth. Did Smith really talk about Jesus Christ in comparison to herself? Wow, Wanda really?? Please see the video below of the interview and you will see the shade. Is Smith honestly saying did I say something about you when she said “you are wearing those old a** clothes? Calling a man Miss. That’s not disrespectful? The host should never disrespect a guest under any circumstances. Did Charlemagne the God disrespect Birdman on the Breakfast Club when he said “put some respect on my name?” No. Yes as a caller said when she called in Wanda is claiming victim. She perpetuated the negativity.
After last week’s viral interview of Katt Williams on V-103’s Frank and Wanda In The Morning, Wanda Smith and Frank Ski publicly talked about everything that’s happened since. Watch as Frank and Wanda air out their feelings over the controversial Emmy-winning comedian’s visit, from how it all started, to the wild weekend of social media commentary, viral videos and tweets that followed.

The city you grew up in, race, and life’s experiences can all shape a person’s talent. This is especially true of Rap Artist/Actor BBK Phat. Born and Raised on the Westbank of New Orleans, BBK Phat made a conscious decision to relocate his family to the city of Houston. With the desire to be a rap artist since the age of 13 his ambition, talent and resources have allowed BBK Phat the opportunity to open for “Lil Wayne,Future, Sean Kingston, Erika Badu, Mack Maine, Mysitkal, Tyga, Bun B, Yo gotti, lil Boosie, Juvenile, Young Jeezy, 2 chain, Rkelly, Money Bag Yo. Finally he got a chance to scratch Miami’s baddest chick rap artist TRINA off his bucket list of artist to perform with as they recently completed the ‘Slow Grind and Wind’ Remix of “Here We Go”.
The Produer’s Channel caught up with the Slow Wine & Grind artist to inquire how his drive and determination has kept his fans motivated to see and hear more from him. The better question was what did it take to snag Miami Love & Hip Hop cast member & rapper TRINAfor his latest remix? Check out the interview:
Who wrote and produced your Remix “Here We Go” and what was the concept behind it?
I wrote it myself and Kirk Thuglas was the producer. I was going through a lot in my life at the time. The popular music producer Kirk said he had a song for me to write to to give me a different flavor and when I first heard the song I loved it. It took me a few days to write something to get it right but when I finally heard it played back to me I literally fell to my knees. It sounded better than I imagined it would.
What made you want to put Trina on the remix?
It actually was a collaborative effort between myself and my label AMS Music Entertainment. We wanted the song to be able to be placed in the hip hop category and we felt that TRINA would be the best artist to give it that hip hop appeal.
You mentioned shooting the video took 6 days; did you and Trina shoot together or separately?
Awwww man, we actually shot one full day together. It was an Epic experience. Trina is a very real individual, humble and a true professional. We got a chance to discuss a lot of different things & she absolutely loved the song. From the moment she pulled up to the house with the pool where we shot the video it was just all love. First words out of her mouth were “about time.” Her vibes were genuine. Everything was organic and we just had a good time.
What advise would you give other artist trying to establish their brand?
Get your paperwork in order.
What makes your lable AMS South Music Entertainment different that others?
AMS is different from other labels because they are not looking for anything from the artist. They are in a financial situation where their business is already moving forward. Their business is in order, everything is in line; they are organized and trustworthy. I don’t feel like either party is using each other for self gain. They have the connections and the resources to help their artist achieve their goals. It’s more than business because the level of respect we have for each other is actual genuine. On both ends we want to see each other grow bigger. It’s a mutual respect. I’ve been dealing with the CEOAlvin Maysfor about two years and I know he is genuinely concerned about my career reaching the highest level and I wish the same for the label as well.
When did you change your stage name from Annunaki Phat (and what does that name mean)?
My best friend got killed and that just blew my world. When I got over it the best I could it’s when I changed my name to BBK Phat. It’s not really a meaning. They were basically angels God sent down to teach.
According to multiple media outlets several Umpires are considering refusing to officiate matches involving Serena Williams over her behaviour at the US Open final. Video of Serena Williams demanding an apology after the umpire accused her of cheating went viral spiraling into garnering the attention of multiple news outlets.
The outspoken Wendy Williams weighed in on this stating she too also felt this was more of a feminist call. Please weigh in on your thoughts. Do you feel like the umpires teaming up to bascially boycott is overboard?
The Times U.K. quoted the following:
The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and United States Tennis Association (USTA) have backed Williams’ claims of sexism after she was given a game penalty for her behaviour during her straight-sets defeat by Naomi Osaka, of Japan, on Saturday.
This has further riled some umpires, who were already unhappy with the haphazard organisation of this year’s US Open.
Sound off in the comments if you feel the Umpires need to get over it and the one should apologize for insinuating Serena Williams was cheating.
Will Packer and Kevin Hart stay consistent when it comes to putting the “funny” in their films! Will Packer Productions also stays consistent when it comes to showing love to the city of Atlanta and holding premiere parties & screenings in the #1 city for social media. Packer & Hart engage with their invited media by delivering the best interviews and not rushing through the red carpets.
A member from Hart’s security team was overheard saying “we can rush anyone up besides Mr. Hart. He wants to talk to the press and he loves his media people.” Kevin Hart has been famous for taking selfies with the crowd and always being engaging, comical and just a very down to earth actor and comedian. With all of Hart’s success it could be very easy for Hart to have the big ego and shun the fans but that has never been the case and we love Kevin Hart for that.
Packer and Hart brought out the VIP’s, Reality Television Stars and Tastemakers of Atlanta. Spotted on the red carpet was Isaac Hayes III, Dr Heavenly Kimes, daughter Alana, Toya Bush-Harris & Eugene Harris (Bravo TV’s Married to Medicine), Ms. Trina Braxton, Ms. Quad Webb (TV One’s Sister Circle) accompanied by her sisters Selena Johnson and Rashawn Ali, Atlanta Hawks Taurean Prince, Keshia Knight Pulliam, the beautiful RHOA Sheree Whitfield and a host of others.
Night School is a hilarious comedy starring Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish and Rob Riggle. The storyline is based on a group of troublemakers forced to attend night school in order to pass the final exam to obtain their GED. The director Malcolm D. Lee, and writers Kevin Hart, Harry Ratchford, Joey Wells, Matthew Kellard, Nicholas Stoller, and John Hamburg are responsible for our giggles. You will also see a lot of cameo appearances by some of our favorite television personalites. We can’t give away any more of what’s in store so you will have to purchase your tickets to see this box office hit movie that will release September 27th.
The Piedmont Park festival is the hallmark event of Atlanta’s Black Gay Pride. The Pure Heat Community Festival highlights “market and food vendors, live performances, entertainment, educational forums, prizes and giveaways, all of which brings together the spirit of community, pride, and vision,” according to Atlanta Voice writer Jason Rhode. Everyone loves the live entertainment.
Hosted by Bishop Oliver Clyde Allen III, Rashad Burgess and Melissa “DJ M” Scott, the Pure Heat Community Festival is a front seat into a spectacular gathering of minority LGBTQ people and their allies in the heart of Atlanta. The 2018 festival featured live performances by Bre-Z (“Empire”), Akbar V, D Woods and Shanell, Estelita, Trent Crews and more. 2017 festival honoree actress Amiyah Scott returned to encourage fans to tune-into “Star” season 3 on Fox. Additional notable VIP’s in attendance included Princess Love Norwood, Melody Love Norwood, Sonja Norwood, Dr. Heavenly, Shekinah Anderson, Kore Stacks, Trinity Kardashian-Bonet and more.
“Atlanta Black Gay Pride is a dynamic opportunity to showcase the diversity and uniqueness of the LGBT community. People from all over come to this city to celebrate themselves and others and its truly beautiful. I’ve witnessed the growth and development of our community each year and 2018 promises to be even greater than previous years,” says Traxx Girls Inc. founder, Melissa Scott.
Additionally, the festival offers an opportunity to bring awareness to a community impacted by HIV/AIDS, and advocates campaigning for human rights, education, health & wellness, and homelessness, which greatly impacts the LGBTQ community at large.

Bobby Brown & BET threw the most amazing backyard Bobby-Q party to celebrate the private screening of the first episode for BET’s 2 part series of the Bobby Brown Story. Brown felt it was important for the world to know his truth the life story of an R & B musician. Kenny Burns “the lifestyle specialist” was the choice as MC of the Bobby-Q party. The infamous DJ D-Nice was right beside him on the turntables and the celebrities poured inside the venue all night long. Bobby Brown held nothing back in his new TV movie based off his autobiography released in 2016 titled “Every Little Step: My Story.
Actor Woody McClain did an excellent job filling the shoes playing the role as “Bobby Brown” for the second time as he also played Bobby Brown in the New Edition Story 3 part series which also airred on BET. The biggest shock factor during the first episode was a specific scene with Janet Jackson, played by Cree Davis. Bobby’s memoir book was his first mention of his heartbreak when he ended his relationship with Janet Jackson. Tyler Williams also resumed his role as young Bobby Brown in the opening act of the series. Bobby’s parents were played by Sandi McCree (Carole Brown) and comedian/actor T.K. Carter played the role as Bobby’s dad Herbert Brown.
The Bobby-Q theme promoted Bobby Brown’s famous Bobby B Brown Foods Bar-b-que Sauce. The entire food spread was amazing. Collard greens & cornbread, mac and cheese, and baked beans were the tasty side choice of the pulled pork, pulled chicken, beef brisket all marinated in the Bobby B Brown foods Bar-b-que sauce or the shrimp po-boy. The venue was the perfect set-up for a back-yard party. It just wouldn’t have been a real back yard party without the group ‘Final Draft’ kicking off the electric slide or actor Mike Terrell getting the party started by hyping the guests to join him in some drinking and shaking a tail feather on the dancefloor.
Big Gipp from the Goodie Mobb took over the mic to provide the crowd with some live entertainment until actor Tristen Mack Wilds hopped on the mic with DJ Dnice to remind everyone he’s not only a talented actor but a singer and song writer as well. Wilds blew everyone away singing a few lines from some of his upcoming music. Guests enjoyed back yard games, the Bobby Brown themed photo booth and the open bar with a featured drink (Whiskey & Lemonade) “The Perogative.”
After the sunset it was finally time for Bobby Brown to settle the crowd down and introduce his family and the film. Brown felt it was important to warn his children ‘when you see your Daddy in this film you are actually going to see your real Daddy and learn some things that you may not know already.” Bobby thanked everyone for coming out and supporting him for the past 35 years. “Don’t Be Cruel” was an album I released 30 years ago; I did another album before that but the Don’t Be Cruel one still remains hot and well known today. I thank you all for supporting me and my music career for the past thirty-five years and please stay tuned for more coming to you from Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky and Mike.” exclaimed Brown.
Check out the photo gallery and tune into to BET Sept 4th for part I of the Bobby Brown Story. Check your tv guide for local listing times.

The #23 LA Clipper’s Point Guard/Shooting Guard Lou William’s held his 14th Annual Summer Basketball Camp for the kids at South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, GA for 3 consecutive days. Special guests invited to join Lou Williams was Wizard’s recently introduced Center Dwight Howard, King of the South Rapper T.I.P. and a host of other athletes.
Dwight Howard really gave the kids a heartfelt talk about goals, hard work and determination and how not to let anything come between them and their dreams. The kids were all encouraged to pursue and value a good education and T.I. told them to make sure they always “Dream Big!” All the children were given the opportunity to ask any question they desired. ATL Live in the Park is a monthly event in Atlanta held at Park Taven in midtown the second Tuesday of every month. Shanti Das and Marlon Nichols are the event’s show runners and Kenny Burns is the host. This July series headlined the group “Blaque” which New Edition’s member Ronnie Devoe’s wife Shamari is the lead singer. Word on the curb, Shamari is also gunning for Kenya’s alledged snatched peach on the RHOA. That word hasn’t been confirmed to date.
The event attracts over 300 guests and it’s truly a packed house. The setting is more like dinner and a live performance. It’s the perfect spot for a girl’s night out or a birthday celebration with a round table of friends. Spotted were special invited guests such as Steve Harvey’s daughter Karli, Damien Hall (GUY), Bravo Reality Star/Stylist Derek J, Deon Cole of ABC’s Blackish, Comedian/Writer Vanessa Fraction and RHOA Cast members Kandi Burruss, Porsha Williams, Eva Marcielle, Cynthia Bailey and Nene Leakes.
Ronnie Devoe was a very proud husband as his wife Shamari DeVoe hit the stage with her partner Brandi Williams. Entertaining the crowd with several popular hits from the 90’s the performance was a success. Back in the day, Xscape’s member Tiny discovered Blaque. (Makes me wonder if Kandi partnered with Tiny on creating this female 90’s group). The other performers of the night was Lindita, Abe Parker and Felixx.

I could not be more thrilled!”

In 2017 2x Olympic Gold Medalist Angel McCoughtry decided to take a break. Her body needed a break from years of non stop basketball bouncing back and forth from the USA to out of the country hooping out of the country from Russia to Turkey and even playing on the Olympics Team representing the USA. On a break taking the time to open an ice cream Parlor in the heart of Atlanta while loving every minute of it; but still something was missing.
Angel’s comments on her Grandmother being her #1 Fan:
Ever since I started playing basketball, my grandma has been obsessed with watching me hoop. I’m talking obsessed, like you wouldn’t believe. Like — even back when I was in high school, that woman would show up to my games hollering and screaming. And she kept on at it through college and into the pros — whether it was in person, or on TV, or even just catching highlights. For over 15 years, I’m telling you: If I was hooping, Grams was watching.
The City of Atlanta would love to thank Grams because she is the main reason McCoughtry is back in Atlanta at the top of her game giving everything to the team to put them in the position to win that championship ring! Dame Dash is not a very happy man over this money situation with Empire Executive Producer Lee Daniels. However he seems more confused than unhappy. From what i am reading on his instagram post he really just wants to know why Lee Daniels is avoiding the fact that he owes him $2 million bucks. You know if somebody owed me $2000 bucks I would be curious as to why they just started ignoring me so I can see where Dame Dash is coming from; especially under the loan terms they agreed upon. Now if Lee Daniels is justified because he understood different terms then it would be great if he just spoke up and acknowledged this information. Then Dame Dash wouldn’t have to post the following on his social media and tag everyone. Especially all the revelent blogs and media sources :
How many thinks Daniels should pay up or fess up?
What legacy are you leaving for your children and the children of your community?
You have to play no games. I hope that I left something positive with them to make them want to be the best that they can be. To be upstanding and just being a good man. Being honest and upright is important. I hope they take what I have taught them and apply it when it comes to their kids. Because they too will be parents one day as well.
How would you describe your Fatherhood culture?
I think I came out to be pretty successful being raised by my grandparents and great grandparents. I just hope they pass the same values on to their kids. I let them know that I am “NOT your friend.” That’s my No. #1 thing. I also understand that parenting is NOT a popularity contest. I don’t care if nobody is talking to me in the house. It’s what I said and that’s the end of it. I mean they don’t pay for nothing, they don’t go to work hosting the radio show and they don’t go perform on the weekends. That’s what it is and I don’t explain my no.
From a father’s perspective, what two books would you recommend every child read?
Rickey Smiley “Stand By Your Truth,” No Opportunity Wasted by Bishop Joseph Walker and Jekalyn Carr “You Will Win.’ Those are three books I feel are important for kids to read.
As a father and a life coach, describe your playbook
My playbook is just training them not to drink, not to smoke, use discretion, and move quietly. To always work and do all the things you are supposed to do. That’s about the size of my playbook.
What insightful advice would you suggest about building a network?
The main thing is to be professional and learn how to mix in with other races and other cultures. There are white people out here signing checks too. We have to learn to think outside the box. And not just be comfortable being around black folks.
How important is keeping your word?
It’s very important because when you have nothing left. All you have is your word. Mean what you say and say what you mean. Be man enough to look people in the eye and say NO. You need to learn to look people straight in the eye and say no. You should see me look people in the eye and say No to people who ask for tickets. (laughs)
When it comes to protecting yourself at all times, physically and mentally, what would you tell your children?
Stay out of the line of fire. Stay at home. Find you a hobby that’s outside the box. Go to the lake and rent you a boat. Jump in the lake why not? That’s the problem. We don’t like to swim we don’t like to hike. We think sitting in the backyard eating baked beans while listening to Frankie Beverly is living. This is what I train my kids to think outside the box. Kids need to have exposure to different things. Exposure is everything for a child. It’s hard to get something when you ain’t seen nothing. I took a young man that works here on his first plane ride and when we came back he said he wouldn’t be happy just living in Jackson, MS after seeing what else is out there.
What advice would you give on being responsible for your own dreams?
I don’t none of my kids are trying to be like me. The only one of my kids that are putting forth their best efforts is my 17 year old son and daughter. Daughter lives in Columbia making straight A’s. My son is at a prep school for basketball, he’s an athlete. He 6’3. Great kid. HE is getting all A’s and B’s he works hard everyday and he is trying to be the best him he can be. Not only the education part they are also taking on things that I stand for and that’s what it is all about. My daughter is going to Emory University or Berkely and she wants to go to medical school.
Finish the sentence: Never give up on yourself because … you can do it. It’s not how you start it’s how you finish.
How does following your spiritual values help you in life?
You always want them to be spiritual so that when they fall up on hard times they have something to read and something to pick up and turn to . Once you expose them to God to teach them that God is real. That God owns everything so they don’t grow up thinking people own everything and praising people and kissing peoples butt. They need to know they serve a real and Living God. Teach them to trust God and even if you don’t take them to church you teach them how to get in a corner and have a good conversation with God.
