Derrick Rutledge had more than a birthday party hosted with his longtime bestie actress
and comedian Kym Whitley in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020. It was a grand
celebration of life.
Went to see The Photograph today after reading a handful of great reviews even though they had me after I had seen the trailer. I love a great love story & Valentine’s Day (even after having no specific Valentine for the past 12 years). Issa Rae & LaKeith did an amazing acting job of really making the audience feel like they are both in love in real life.
The writer/director Stella Meghie of this film Stella did an amazing job of telling a story line without adding too much drama or conflict to detract from the “love line” of the story. A great job of flip flopping back and forth through two different time eras and telling two love stories of two different generations of women at once. There were a lot of moments in the movie that made the audience look at their own personal love life (looking at their relationship with their own mom), their ability to take a chance on love or wonder why they aren’t willing to take chances on love. If you ever had the privilege to meet the artist “Camp Nowhere” native of Longview, Dallas; I promise you will never forget the energy that permeates throughout his entire body. That energy is reflected in his music. It’s still important to reflect on the lyrics of the non mumble rap true artists as an artist music is typically the window to their soul.
Camp shared a very special story with us of how he traveled to Los Angeles with a former friend that decided to leave him stranded at a gas station parking lot (In Inglewood) and return to Dallas without him. As Camp sat in the gas station parking lot puzzled, depressed and contemplating his next move he reached out to someone he met from Power 106 and told them about his situation. It was through his friend he learned about “New Music Monday.” Of course Camp knew if presented this opportunity the world could get exposed to his music and he knew everyone who heard any of his music would absolutely love it.
Once Camp found out that Nick Cannon frequented the station for his new show he decided to “camp out” (no punt intended) by his Sprinter Van in the parking lot hoping to get the opportunity to holla at Nick personally and present to him his music. After several days with no sign of Nick returning to his vehicle on a day when Camp was really is a dispair mindset he finally runs into Nick. Joyfully greeting Cannon and introducing himself he asked Nick Cannon if he would check out his music. Cannon agreed and asked for Camp Nowhere for his Instagram and followed him.
Elated at the chance to finally meet Mr Nick Cannon in person Camp Nowhere’s days were starting to get just a tad bit brighter. After a couple of weeks Nick Cannon DM’d Camp Nowhere about the opportunity to be in a contest on New Music Monday and gave him to information to come to the station and tell his story. What an amazing day this was for Camp Nowhere.
“Being on the show with Nick Cannon and now my song ‘Bloody Mary’ would go up against Summer Walker’s new single “Come Thru” featuring Usher. The votes were pouring in for my song and then I actually won! Yes! – Camp Nowhere
“I’m so happy right now because I caught another W. I’m so glad you are here. The song is super creative. I was super impressed when I met you and super impressed you are here. It shows people still like artists that are unique and not afraid to be themselves.” – Nick Cannon.
“When Nick spoke those words from that day going forward I really started to believe more about what I have to offer. It honestly changed the trajectory of my path in life and jumpstarted my engine to push my music. I honestly sat in that parking lot contemplating some really dark things” – Camp Nowhere
Who is Camp Nowhere? Check out how we got to know him more after the break Continue reading How Nick Cannon Saved My Life – Camp Nowhere

Did the other families that died have survivors? Was the bodies all splattered into pieces? Why can they only find three bodies which they had to identify by fingerprints?

The public, black twitter and actors were not happy when the 2020 Oscar Nominee list was revealed. It’s seems the #OscarsSoWhite remains #SoWhite as there was still a total lack of diversity not only in the actor/actress categories but also in the Director, Music and Screenplay nominations.
The consensus was the sure way for an African American to be considered for an Oscar nodd would be to star in a film about slavery and storylines that depict the oppression of Black people. Ironically Cynthia Erivo is not only getting flack for his nomination but she also received alot of flack from the African American Community because of being Brittish and being chosen for the role of Black America’s honored and beloved Harriett Tubman.
Personally, the Producer’s Channel is so proud of Cynthia Erivo for the outstanding acting she displayed in the film Harriet and if anyone of these people criticizing even saw the film they would have to agree that she definitely earned her Oscar nomination and we will be rooting for her all the way to the finish line for the win!
Be sure to tune in to the Academy Awards show Feb 9th as we await Cynthia Erivo walking off that stage with her Oscar in hand! Check your tv guide for local listing and time. Here is the full list of 2020 Oscar nominations: Continue reading Cynthia Erivo Only Black Female Actress to receive Oscar nomination for Best Actress & Original song for ‘Harriet’

Finally things are taking a turn around in Atlanta. Just when things seemed bleak with film production companies pulling out left and right and actors refusing to walk red carpets due to the heartbeat abortion law; it seemed like things were on a downward spiral.
According to the Washington Examiner on Tuesday October 1st, it just might be the day one federal judge makes a lot of people happy for the following reasons:
A federal judge temporarily blocked a law in Georgia on Tuesday that would ban abortions after six weeks, once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which was supposed to take effect Jan. 1.
U.S. District Judge Steve Jones, an Obama appointee, sided with the American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood, and the Center for Reproductive Rights, who filed a complaint on behalf of abortion providers in June.
“In a state with a critical shortage of medical providers and some of the highest rates of maternal and infant deaths, especially among black Georgians, politicians should focus on expanding access to reproductive care, not banning abortion before someone even knows they’re pregnant,” said Talcott Camp, deputy director of the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project.
The law, signed by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp in May, would make exceptions in cases of rape or incest, or if the mother’s life was at risk. Federal judges have issued injunctions against similar six-week bans in several states, including Kentucky and Ohio.
